The Galaxy Drive-In became statewide headlines following the January 1, 1977 murder of the Galaxy’s ticket taker Lucile Steve Faust, which 20-year-old Gregory Wimberly of Downtown New Orleans was immediately taken into custody three months later.
The Joy launched November 7, 1968 with “Angels from Hell” and “It’s a Bikini World.” It became a Twin on December 6, 1974 with “Serpico” and “Superfly TNT” on Joy 1 and adult films, “X” and “Robin Hood,” on Joy 2.
A closer address is 325 Natchez St, Hammond, LA.
The Burrow Apartments are being built on the site, there is no trace of the drive-in remaining. Although the area immediately surrounding what was the second screen appears to be untouched by the construction.

New construction started on the property in 2021.
The information listed is incorrect.
This Drive-in was located at Natchez Street and Corbin Road across from what is now the Seville Shopping Center.
The ramps for both screens are still visible. It is now and empty lot.
When this opened as the Joy Drive-in, this theater had one screen according to a 1972 aerial. As the Galaxy, a field was added behind the original property according to current aerials. The correct zip code is 74703.
Please update.
