The Spur is clearly gone as seen on GMaps. It was located between the Conquest Ammo store (368 N Main) and Addison’s (Mauk Bldg) on the west side of Main Street. It was seen in Murphy’s Romance. James Garner’s “old time pharmacy” is the current ammo store. I believe the address for the Spur should be 364 North Main. Incidentally, Murphy’s Romance is a very good film.

The SPUR building is actually gone. The plumbing store is not the theatre building. The SPUR building has been gone for many years. For a long time, the sloped, concrete floor was still on the fenced off vacant space between the row of downtown buildings. I was told the structure itself had burned down. You could look at that concrete foundation and see where the seat bolts were as well as the plumbing for the restrooms.

Boxoffice, Jan. 19, 1957: “Marie Ortiz, seventh grade pupil, won the first prize in the contest to rename the Isis Theatre. Her winning name was the Spur.”
