The Pines Drive-In opened on May 29, 1968 with Kirk Douglas in “The Way West” & Burt Lancaster in “The Hallelujah Trail” and closed in the mid-1980’s. It could hold 382 cars, and was located across from the Resthaven Memorial Gardens.

Boxoffice, Jan. 17, 1977: “Evergreen Theatres has sold its Century Theatre and Arrow Drive-In at Lamar to Dan Wolfenbarger of Dumas, Tex. Vern Peterson and John Lindsey of Evergreen said they will concentrate on the newly remodeled Rialto and Pines Drive-In at Loveland as well as their theatres in Ogallala, Neb.”
The Pines’ first ad in the Fort Collins Coloradoan was May 29, 1968, featuring “The Way West” and “The Hallelujah Trail”. It ended with the note, “Drive south and save!” (The Pines charged 90 cents per adult while the Starlite charged a full $1.)
