Fairmount, IN is the home town of actor/movie star James Dean. The building was constructed in 1905. The Palace Theatre was opened on October 1, 1937 with Shirley Temple in “Wee Willie Winkle”. It was remodeled on August 26, 1938. It was closed in late-September 1956. On July 27, 1961 it was converted into the Palace Bar.
(There was a 200-seat Royal Theatre operating in the town in 1926, which ‘could’ have been a previous name for the Palace Theatre.)
