Prince of Wales Cinema

Located on Bayside Road near the Marina. The Prince of Wales Cinema was opened on 11th March 1971. It was a single screen cinema with a curved roof and a central lighting band, and a free standing screen. Two doors opened into the ‘dress circle’ which had 177 seats and another door opened to a partitioned off ‘stalls’ area seating 563, which was only one foot lower than the ‘dress circle’! Seating could be reduced to make room for electric heaters in the winter and six fans in the summer.
