The Rancier Drive-In opened in 1952 by Rowley United Theatres, Inc. located in Dallas, Texas. It opened with a car capacity of 400 cars. In September of 1955, United Artists Theatres Circuit Inc. bought out the remaining stock of Rowley United Theatres. It was advertised as a division of the United Artists Theatre Circuit, Inc.
The Rancier Drive-In was twinned in the early-1970’s and that increased the car capacity to 800 cars. I believe it closed down in the 1980’s.

I spent a lot of evenings in the playground at the base of the North Screen of the Rancier Drive-in. My Dad was the projectionist for the South Screen when I was in elementary school.
Billboard, Jan. 26, 1952: “New spot under construction at Killen (sic), Tex., will be known as the Rancier Drive-In, according to Ace Clary. National Production Authority recently granted approval for the project, and the open-airer is expected to be ready for a March bow.”
Its currently an empty lot, the foundations of the concession building and ticket box still exist. You can still see the ramps, but its right next to a cemetery and I reckon they will eventually expand it over the old drive-in site.
Next door to a cemetery, I must deal quiet at night? I bet people are dying to go this place now?
