The Picture Palace was opened in a Victorian corrugated iron hall in 1912, and was the first permanent cinema in the town. In 1916 it was operated by a Mr. J. Davis. The Picture Palace was closed around 1918.
Today the site is behind where Tesco supermarket now stands.
