The theatre goes back into the 1920’s.

First off this site is not showing the theater until you turn the cursor and go down the street. It belonged in the Henriksen Family for 3 generations with Tommy Reid Henriksen still operating it. It burned down and was rebuilt in 1945-1947. Was listed on National Register before 2004. Because of digital conversions for all theaters becoming a neccessity, Tommy had to sign the building over to an organization called the SOS, Save Our Strand, which applied for non-profit status. One digital has been ordered along with two new screens. Tommy still serves popcorn with real butter, staff is friendly, building is receiving gradual remodeling and the SOS would appreciate any tax deductible contributions to keep this historic place alive. The prices are extremely reasonable and this has been Tommy’s whole life, worked behind the counter as a kid selling concessions. Take the time to make a trip and see it before digital comes if you can. Downstairs has Digital Theater System Surround Sound and roomy seats and aisles. It’s worth your time to go back in time!
