Lumiere Cinema

This art house cinema is 15 minutes walk from Maastricht Railway Station, and offers a range of European films and from further afield. According to the Cinema Context website it opened on the 3rd April, 1987 and then had 180 seats, later increased to 300 seats. The website for the cinema not only bans mobile phones but all refreshments in the auditorium apart from water in plastic bottles. The building dates from 1880 and my be listed. It was closed on September 17, 2016.

A new Lumiere Cinema was opened in October 2016 at Bassin 88. It is a 6-screen cinema with 326 seats.

The Lumiere staff advise me that their present site was a monastery and the chapel they occupy is the largest building. However plans are in hand to move to a new canal side cultural complex later in 2014, the plans on website showing four Lumiere screens

This Theatre has now 6 screens and 326 seats in total
