Located in Horley, Sussex, close to today’s Gatwick Airport. The Electric Cinema was opened in 1915. It was taken over by Shipman & King in 1925 and they modernised it, reopening as the New Pavilion Cinema, which replaced Shipman & King’s ‘old’ Pavilion Cinema on Albert Road.
In 1930 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. Dropping the ‘New’ from the name by 1937, the Pavilion Cinema became the temporary head office for the Shipman & King circuit during World War II. They closed the Pavilion Cinema around 1948.
It became a Chinese restaurant and by June 2015 was an Italian restaurant.
