“Northwest Passage” ran as the Xmas attraction at the St James in 1940. It was the most expensive film MGM had produced since “Ben-Hur” (1925). It was based substantially on the first half of a novel – and incorporated ‘Book 1: Rogers’ Rangers’ in its advertised title. Those awaiting Book 2 are still awaiting, Metro made a loss on the production and lost interest in a sequel.
