The Gay Theatre was opened by 1914. Newport’s Gay Theatre is mentioned in the July 20, 1927 issue of Film Daily as part of Booth Enterprises, a small chain of theatres in East Tennessee based in Greeneville TN, E.M. Booth president. Booth was in bankruptcy in 1929 and his theaters seem to have all been taken over by competitors by the 1930’s.
The Gay Theatre was listed in the 1939-1943 editions of Film Daily Yearbook as (Closed).
