The Atlas Cinema was opened on 2nd February 1914 with 1,000 seats. In 1930 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system, and was renamed New Atlas Cinema, with the seating capacity reduced to 750. In early-1937 it was re-named Ritz Cinema. The Ritz Cinema was closed in 1960 and was converted into the Ritz Bingo Club. It was closed in 1975 and the building has since been demolished.

The Ritz Cinema reopened as the Ritz Bingo & Social Club the same year as closing as a cinema. This lasted until around 1975. The cinema/bingo club, along with the Farmers Arms pub were demolished for houses.
