The Roxy Theater was opened around 1937. It operated as an African-American theatre. In 1945 it was owned by the Katiba Holding Company (who owned the grocery store next door) and managed by ABC Florida State Theatres Inc. The Roxy Theater was closed when a fire broke out at the screen end of the building on the evening of January 14, 1953. The building was considered a loss, and was demolished.

Thanks for posting this. The Roxy must be a virtually forgotten theatre. Excellent picture!
