Located in Maryport, Cumbria. The Empire Theatre was built and opened in 1910. It was operated by the Graves Brothers as a cine-variety theatre. Seating was provided for 720 in the stalls and 130 in the circle, and the auditorium had a barrel ceiling. There was a stage and fly tower.
By 1920 it was operating as a full-time cinema, and around 1929 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. It was equipped with CinemaScope in 1955 and was closed in 1976. The building was converted into retail use.
