A few more, earlier details. Boxoffice, Sept. 10, 1955: “Mrs. Winona Allen of Springfield, Mo., widow of ? Allen, for many years the Dallas manager of National Screen, is a partner with John Castner of Mountain Grove in the ownership of the 60 Drive-In on Route 60 and the Cameo Theatre, which they purchased recently from William Dean Davis of West Plains. The management and ownership of the drive-in and theatre was formally assumed by Mrs. Allen and Castner on Sunday (4).”
The October 22, 1955 issue of Boxoffice said that Mr. and Mrs. John Castner and Mrs. Wanona Allen of Springfield had bought the Cameo Theatre and 60 Drive-In at Mountain Grove from the Dean Davis family. Castner had been manager of the Cameo since 1935 and of the drive-in for the last three years.
The Exhibitor, July 23, 1952: “The Autovue Drive-In, a 300-car theatre near Mountain Grove, Mo., was opened by Austin E. Allcorn, Poplar Bluff, Mo.”
Independent Film Journal, May 16, 1953: “The Autovue Drive-In near Mountain Grove, Mo. opened under new ownership of Dean Davis, Jr. and with John Castner as mgr."
The old marquee out front says Hills Flea Market. Address 10366 US 60 Business. Using that address it maps right to the old drive-in.
Here is a view of the drive in today. https://goo.gl/maps/fNXn4
The screen is partially there.
