The Royal Theatre was listed as open by 1921 and seated 227. In early-1940 it was renamed Norborne Theatre and was listed as closed in 1947.

The Royal Theater is shown as being open in 1926, but it appears that by sometime in early 1940 it was sold and the name was changed to “The Norborne”.
Was probably not on S Pine. 1918 Sanborn map shows a theater at 115 W 2nd, which is still there, and obviously was a theater until much later than that. Looks vacant, but the poster cases are still visible.
The Royal was in operation by 1921, when the July 2 issue of Exhibitors Herald said that Mrs. H. M. Goodson had installed a new ventilation system in the house.
The only theater listed at Norborne in the 1914-1915 American Motion Picture Directory was called the Phoenix Theatre, which must have been the 300-seat upstairs house listed that year as the Phoenix Opera House in Gus Hill’s directory. I doubt the Royal and Phoenix were the same theater.
