The three-screen Salem Cinema, independently owned by Loretta Miles, opened on April 17, 2009. The Salem Weekly noted that this was a new location for the cinema, which had previously operated at the Pringle Parkade since 1990.
The cinema “specializes in art, foreign, independent & exceptional film.” A unique feature on the cinema’s web page lists every film from 1982 and on, which played at the cinema.
