Boxoffice, Aug. 22, 1953: “Eminence, Mo. - The opening of the Smalley Drive-In between here and Winona was held. Carter Smalley of Van Buren, Ark., is owner and manager.”
The renaming must have occurred before Dec. 5, 1953, when BoxOffice mentioned that Carter Smalley of Van Buren MO operated “the 250-car Winona Drive-In between Eminence and Bartlett.”
I’ve found a drive-in west of Winona.
The address is Co Road E-450 and County Rd 60-445, Winona, MO.
The drive-in sat on the NE corner of the intersection. Today, it appears to be commercial property. You can still see the basic outline and the ramps.
