A photograph (circa 1926) from the Western Sonoma County Historical Society identifies this theatre as the Starland Theatre. A theatre was at this location on the Sanborn Insurance Maps of 1911 and 1929.
The Starland Theatre was opened in 1912 and closed in 1932. It briefly reopened as the Gold Gate Theatre on July 1, 1933, but closed later that year. The building is still standing, next door to the IOOF hall (built 1923), on the corner. The Film Daily Year Book of 1928 listed the Starland Theatre with 470 seats.

This venue’s name as the Starland Theatre began in 1912. In 1930, it converted to Vitaphone sound becoming the first full-time sound theatre. It closed after a 20-year lease in 1932. Frank Casey took on the venue and, after remodeling and reequipping it, change its name to the Golden Gate Theatre launching July 1, 1933. It closed before year’s end.
