Built in 1930 and designed by noted Czechoslovakian architect Josef Gocar. The Grand Hotel contained a cinema in the basement. Seating in the cinema was provided in orchestra and circle levels, with four boxes on the side-walls.
Above the cinema was a multi-purpose hall which had seating in orchestra and balcony levels. This was used as a theatre, for concerts, dances and film presentations. The building also contained restaurants, bars and offices.
