Thought I’d share this message from my Mom. Yesterday afternoon she mentioned that two of her favorite theaters when she was a kid in Detroit (late 40s, early 50s) were the Keno and the Tower theaters. She sent this after I sent her this page from Cinematreasures…

I am in awe of you. It was the Amsterdam theater when I was very little..then the Keno. WOW. It takes me back. They had double features w/cartoons and news for 14 cents. They had gift night when you got a free dinner plate and if you kept coming on gift night you’d end up w/a set of 8 plates. All for 14c. The Tower was bigger and much nicer but a long walk for a small kid but I did it. It was 70 cents..but I managed it between the seats of chairs and the sofa plus I stole from Uncle Jim’s easy hiding place. He was such a good boy🤣🤣. I was obviously questionable.
