The Idle Hour Theatre was advertised in the Lodi News-Sentinel in early-1912. By 1915 it had become the first Empire Theatre in Stockton, with no relation to the later Stockton Empire Theatre.
A 1915 Empire Theatre advertisement read “This will be positively the only chance you will have to see it in Stockton as under the regulations of the Film Exchange, no picture will be shown twice in the same town".
The Sanborn Insurance Maps of 1917 lists it as the Empire Theatre and Wright Realtors notes that it was razed in 1919 and replaced by a dress shop. The location today would be the parking lot next to the Kress building.
