Located in Woodhouse, a suburb 1½ miles north west of the City Centre. It opened as the Picture Palace in November 1911 with “Trafalgar”. The name was changed to Astra Cinema on 5th June 1946. It closed on Saturday 2 August 1958 with “Woman in a Dressing Gown”. The premises were used as a nightclub for several years and then for commercial purposes. When photographed in June 2005 the building was boarded up and it was demolished shortly after. The site was vacant in 2014. By May 2018 shops and flats have been built on the site.

Google Streetview shows building taking place on the site in May 2016 and by May 2018 the building is complete – shops and flats, I assume.
