Looking through trade directories, the earliest reference to the Knaresborough Cinema was in 1924, with the manager listed as Percy Uden. Seems to have co-existed with the Oddfellows until the late 1920s. Robert Taylorson was the proprietor from the 1930s, and in its latter days the cinema was run by Mr and Mrs Ogleby. Affectionately known as the Bug ‘Utch or the Laff & Scratt.
