Majestic Cinema

Located in Driffield, East Yorkshire, 18 miles north of Hull. The Majestic Cinema was built by Majestic (Pocklington) Ltd. and was opened in 1936. It has a cafe attached and was fitted with British Acoustic(BA) sound equipment. Seating was provided on a stadium plan, with a raised stepped section at the rear rather than the usual overhanging balcony. The proscenium was 38ft wide.

The Majestic Cinema was closed on 24th February 1979 and was demolished. Shops were built on the site, which are now under threat of demolition themselves.
