The 7-screen, 825-seat Alamo Drafthouse opened on August 9, 2013, as a franchised operation. Father and son, Bill D. and Bill C. DiGaetano, who own the North Texas franchise rights for Alamo Drafthouse, are the operators.
The Dallas Morning news notes “The younger DiGaetano figures that, because of incentives from the city of Richardson and landlord assistance, he can bring in millions of dollars less annually than other Alamo locations and still break even". It was closed on March 16, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
It was reopened by Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas on June 5, 2024 with a reduced capacity of 697-seats.

First visited here on 7/3/2017 (also my first day as a Texas resident). In a word: WOW! This place is paradise for movie nerds! From the tailor made film specific preshow to the various alternative programming featuring classic and obscure films, Alamo is THE BUSINESS!! If only the food were a little better…
The Alamo Drafthouse closed March 16, 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It reopened for three weeks in late August and into September of 2020. It then closed for another year reopening in October of 2021. Unfortunately, Two is One, One is None, LLC then closed all six franchised Alamo Drafthouse Cinemas that it (and its affiliates) operated, and have filed voluntary petitions for relief under Chapter 7 liquidation bankruptcy. June 5, 2024 was this location’s last day.
Reopened August 5, 2024 by the Alamo Drafthouse parent company.
