Located in the northeast Manchester suburb of Newton Heath. Originally built as Newton Heath Congregational Church in the 1800’s. The Ceylon Picture Theatre was opened prior to 1914. It was equipped with a Picturetone sound system around 1930.

It was closed in 1937, and was replaced by a new larger Ceylon Picture Theatre built around the corner on Thorp Road.

The old Ceylon Picture Theatre was converted into a dance hall. It was converted into a bingo club in 1962. The building was destroyed by fire in 1992.
