A 1980 aerial view shows the drive-in appearing to be dead, despite the clean traces and everything remain standing, several trees grew on the site. It was already demolished by 1985.

An item datelined Colby in the March 4, 1950 issue of Boxoffice said that the 350-car drive-in being built for Don Phillips was slated to open on May 23. The project had been designed by architect Truman Schlupp of Kansas City. I haven’t been able to discover if the target date for completion was met.

Motion Picture Herald, April 18, 1953: “At Colby, Kansas, a sunrise service was held at the Colby drive-in theatre, Easter Sunday. This was the first service of this type in the area.”
