Goodrich Quality Theaters 3,058-seat Portage 16 opened on January 12, 2007. Northern Indiana’s first IMAX, at 80 feet wide, 4 stories tall and seating 474, opened on May 1, 2007.
The Post-Tribune noted that the Portage 16 was replacing the Portage 9, which opened in 1997 and closed in early-2007. It was closed on March 16, 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It was announced in April 2021 that the closure would be permanent. It was taken over by Emagine Entertainment and reopened as the Emagine Portage on July 9, 2021.

Closed March 16, 2020 for the COVID-19 pandemic, Goodrich Quality Theatre Circuit subsequently ceased operations. It wasn’t picked up by the GQT Movies circuit which partnered with VIP Theatres to run a subset of the Goodrich Quality portfolio and sat inactive.
Please update, total seating 1,415, Emagine replace the IMAX auditorium with EMX/Atmos and uploaded the grand opening ads in the photos section.
