Located in Dixville Notch to the east of Colebrook, NH. Balsams Theatre was listed in the 1941 edition of Film Daily Yearbook as (Closed) with a 200 seat capacity. It had reopened by 1943, still with 200 seats.
By 1950 it was operating as a movie theatre by the Inter-State Amusement Co. out of Littlton, NH. It was listed with 325 seats. It had closed by 1957.
It later reopened as a live theatre (with some movies), and in 2015 is closed undergoing renovation.

The Theatre Historical Society on-line archive has the MGM Theatre Report for “Balsam’s Hotel” theater in Dixfield Notch, Maine (incorrect state). But no one filled out the report, and there also is no photo (one of the very few MGM theater reports which does not have at least a photo).
