Built in 1914 this long, odd shaped building still proudly displays the year of it birth on its façade. As the Hicksville Opera House it served as a community center and as Hicksville’s first movie theater.
When the new Hicksville Playhouse was built on East Marie Street as a larger venue featuring talking pictures, the Opera House continued to provide a venue for other recreations activities, first as a dance hall and then as a bowling alley.
For many years it was used as a sewing factory for the Drago Company. In the 1980’s it was home to the Wee Care Nursery School.
Subsequently renovated for retail it was leased by an electronic and telephonic company. Today it serves as a Martial Arts academy.

Uploaded post movie photos of the façade and an early add. Also revised the street view to show it’s appearance now.
As you will observe from the current street view the property is now vacant and looking for a new tenant.
