The Morrisville Drive-In was opened on August 5, 1949 with Peggy Cummins in “Green Grass of Wyoming”. It was owned and operated by D.H. McNally. It was closed at the end of the 1985 season and was demolished.
Today, the Hannaford Supermarket sits on the property which is reflected in the address to properly located the site on Google Maps. There is no trace of the drive-in remaining apart perhaps from the general shape of the parking area and the entrance.

I will need to do some deep research but I think my may have some old pictures of this Drive-in. In the 60’s we used to go there. One of the owners was a relative, Philip W. Smith. We have spent many weekends in Morrisville and at the Drive-In.
There was a business relation with the Newport Drive-In if my memory is right. I was about 9-10 y/o then and I am now 57.
A more accurate address for this theater is 701 Brooklyn St, Morristown, VT 05661. This points directly to the entrance road. Fairgrounds Plaza is where the drive in stood and did not exist when this theater was open.

I used 80 Fairgrounds Plaza because the entrance road was not defined on any aerial or topo map that I could review. The current entrance may be accurate or not as the property itself was changed considerably.
If there is a historic photo or topo map that defines the entrance road or the address of the drive-in itself when in operation, then that should be used.
Otherwise, I believe 80 Fairgrounds Plaza should stand it is clearly in the middle of where the drive-in once stood.

The Morrisville Drive-In launched with Peggy Cummins in “Green Grass of Wyoming” supported by short subjects. It operated with a loudspeaker in its first season. The Morrisville D-I was located where the Fairground track once was. News reports said that the loudspeaker system of season one was replaced by 340 individual speakers improving presentation. In 1982, the speakers were replaced with stereo radio sound. The ozoner closed at the end of the 1985 season due attributing home video as the reason for closure. The Brooklyn Street / Route 100 venue became a mobile home dealer in 1987.
