Cinecentre opened on 10th December 1974 with “The Man with the Golden Gun”(cinema 1), and “Juggernaut”(cinema 2). Cinema 3 opened 12th December 1974 with “Mame”. Name changed to Perth City Cinemas in 1997. The name changed back to Cinecentre in 1999. Cinecentre closed on 1st February 2006 with(on different screens throughout the day) “Underworld Evolution”, “The Producers”, “Get Rich or Die Tryin”, “Nanny Mcphee”, “The Chronicles of Narnia:The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe”, “Chicken Little”, “Rumour Has It”, “Fun with Dick and Jane”, “King Kong”, “Family Store”, “Cheaper by the Dozen”, and “Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire”.
The cinema became a bridal shop on the ground floor and 1st floor, and a collectables shop on the left hand side of the ground floor and on the basement level. Both shops have since closed(the bridal shop lasted longer). The cinema building remained unused, except for the Cinecentre Arcade(opened at the same as the cinemas?)from Murray street to Barrack Street. There was also a tavern (downstairs) on the Barrack Street Side of the cinema(also closed). The building was demolished in July 2016.

The Cinecentre building(as of May 2016) has had the signs taken off the outside of the building, and scaffolding put up outside the entire building. There is a plan to build a hotel(QT Hotel?) on the site, unknown if the cinema building is going to be demolished or made part of the hotel building?
The Cinecentre building is being demolished. The top fllor is all gone, and most of the ground floor is gone, and the basement is close to being gone too!
The cinema building is all gone except for a wall against the building on the southern side of the site(next building along Barrack Street).
The hotel(QT Hotel) may have opened recently?
