Located on the Corner of Albany Highway and Mint Street. The Savoy Theatre was opened in the 1920’s or early-1930’s. The Savoy Gardens opened in about 1951 on the same side of Albany Highway, but north of Mint Street. The Savoy Theatre and Gardens closed in 1960. The gardens became a car yard using the screen as advertising for the car yard(name unknown), current use of site unknown. The Savoy Theatre converted for use as a warehouse and store for Vox Adeon. The building became a Blockbuster Video store (closed in 2016) and a gymnasium.

Correction – The Savoy Gardens may have been on Albany Highway(eastern side), North of the Savoy Theatre.
There is also a 24 hour gym(Jetts) at the back of the building(Mint street side). The Blockbuster video store closed in(2015 or 2016?). The video store area is now empty(even the signs are gone)! The gym is still open at the back!
The former video library(Blockbuster) has replaced by a City Farmers store(bulk pet, garden and pool supplies).
The Savoy Theatre opened on 31/8/1927 with “Stolen pleasures”.
There is also a ice cream parlour(Baskin-Robbins) in the old Savoy Theatre building.
928 seats.
I think the Savoy Picture Gardens might have been located at 716 Albany Highway(now an abandoned car yard(name unknown?)), and 720 Albany Highway(now an empty site) East Victoria Park?
