The Open Air Pictures at Cockatoo Island started in(1949?). The Open Air Pictures stopped when BHP stopped mining(iron ore) and closed the town in 1985 and it was deserted for some time. Then it was bought by Alan Bond, who turned it into a resort village. There was a plan to restart the cinema, unknown if the cinema reopened? The resort was sold and closed(late-1980’s or 1990’s?). The iron ore mining was been resumed(by a difeerent company?).
