Amuzu Theatre

Possibly the first movie theatre in Elkin, North Carolina. I don’t have an exact timeline, but the Amuzu Theatre was already open in 1916 and continued to operate at least into the mid to late-1920’s. The building is currently occupied by the Ace Music and Pawn Shop.

This early movie house was operated by Louis Mitchell, who later opened the Lyric Theatre and the State Theatre.
