King's College Cinemas

The King’s College Cinemas were opened by Famous Players on June 5, 1987. Its four screens held a total of 1,302 seats, with Cinema One seating 354, Cinemas Two and Three each seating 272 and Cinema Four, the largest screen, seating 404.

When Famous Players and Cineplex Odeon merged in 2005, Cineplex turned the King’s College over to Empire Theatres on September 30 as part of its required divesting of some of its theatres. Empire did not keep the King’s College for long and closed it on August 30, 2006 to concentrate on the Empire Studio 12 Gateway Park (the former SilverCity Kitchener, now the Landmark Kitchener).
