Located in Irvine, North Ayrshire. Green’s Picturedrome was opened by George Green in 1912. It had a 25ft wide proscenium. Around 1929 it was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. By 1953 it had been re-named Green’s Cinema which continued until the early-1960’s.
Soon afterwards it was re-named Rex Cinema. Following the destruction by a fire of the Kyle Cinema/George Cinema in February 1964 (it has its own page on Cinema Treasures), it was leased to George Palmer and his Associated G.P. Cinemas chain and following a £100,000 refurbishment it reopened as the George Cinema on 8th January 1976. It was still operating as the George Cinema in 1980. In mid-1983 it was taken over by William Mather and it was re-named WMR Film Centre. It was closed in 2001.
The building was unused until it re-opened as Pichers Nightclub on 24th September 2003.
