A grand opening announcement appeared in the Eagle Valley Enterprise on April 7th, 1933 that read:

“Don’t miss the big opening of Dot’s Theatre in Dotsero, April 8, 9 and 10, and see the greatest picture of today, "American Madness” with Walter Houston, Pat O'Brien, Kay Johnson and an excellent supporting cast. Also matinee Sunday starting at 2:30. Admission 15c and 40c. Big dance following picture, music furnished by the Gondollans."

I also located this post-opening announcement in the April 14th, 1933 issue of The Steamboat Pilot filling a paragraph of their “News of Our Neighbors” segment:

“Mrs. Harry Gordon opened her new theatre at Dotsero last week with the showing of "American Madness”. The theatre has been named “Dot’s Theatre”. The opening week was well advertised in the Glenwood Post."

These were transcribed exactly as they were printed. with that in mind, notice the spelling difference between the theatre’s name in the two articles: Dots Theatre vs. Dot’s Theatre. I’m not sure which is correct so if anyone does, please speak up.

This is an extremely small mountain town; about the only thing existing structurally these days (that I am aware of) is a newer trailer park. While I am well aware that before the advent of television, almost every town, no matter how small, had a theatre at one point, learning of Dotsero’s genuinely shocked me. Sadly, these two paragraphs are all I have been able to locate and it is not listed in any edition of Film Daily Yearbook.

I’d be extremely grateful for any further information and/or pictures-regardless of how insignificant it may seem. Also, an address would be fantastic! I hope to learn more about this theatre.
