In the small town of Middleton St. George, on the outskirts of Darlington, County Durham, this large property was built in 1860.
Over the years it has had many uses, including as a school, a place of worship and flats.
Around 1937/1938 it opened as the Lyric Cinema. The Lyric Cinema was closed around 1961/1962
By the time I visited, in October 2005, the building had been converted into housing. In 2015 it was being offered for sale, for offers in excess of £200,000. Among its extensive features were a large lounge, library, reading room and four bedrooms.
