The Queensgate 12, operated by Fairchild Cinemas, opened on December 17, 2015, with 10 screenings of “Star Wars: The Force Awakens", beginning at 7pm.
The Tri-City Herald noted the auditoriums range in size from 65 to 159 seats and two of the theaters come equipped with Dolby Atmos audio, which surrounds the viewer with 360-degree sound.
The theater is equipped with automated leather recliners and swivel tables. Kevin Fairchild said the theater will eventually expand its menu and add alcohol drinks and an over 21 section.
According to local news, Richland had been without a theater since the Uptown Cinemas closed in 2006. Fairchild Cinemas other locations are in Moses Lake and Pasco.
