Located in the north Lanarkshire town of Airdrie. The New Cinema was opened on 16th February 1920. Originally seating was provided for 1,600 in stalls and circle levels. It had a 16ft wide proscenium. In the early-1930’s it was taken over by the A.B. King circuit. It was equipped with a Western Electric(WE) sound system. In 1938 it was remodelled in an Art Deco style.
In 1955 it was equipped with CinemaScope and the screen was 30ft wide. The New Cinema was closed on 14th May 1974 with “"Enter the Dragon” and “Cleopatra Jones” It had been purchased for road improvements and was demolished in the late-1970’s.
