The Village Theatre was actually a permanent tent in the arcade which was listed as (Closed) in the 1943 edition of Film Daily Yearbook. It had reopened by 1950. I was there in the summers of 1957, 1958, 1959, and 1960. I don’t think it survived all of the massive remodel in and around the old Swiss-type village back in the 1980’s(?) I saw all of the latest films there, including “Don’t Give Up The Ship”, “This Earth is Mine” and “Snow White And The Three Stooges”; many others. Lake Arrowhead was a WONDERFUL place back in the exciting era of the movies and the town theatres they were shown in. Lake Arrowhead was unpopulated then; and the hot dry heat enhanced the aroma of the Pines; the entire amiable surroundings of the place; the memories all so enduring…..
