The Franklin Theatre opened in downtown Franklin on August 22, 1934 with a showing of “Three Kings and a Queen” starring Vincent Lopez. The biggest show in the theatre’s history was “Gone with the Wind” in 1940 with $1 seating. In 1954, the theatre was reconfigured with stereo sound and a “wide vision” screen along with new CinemaScope equipped projection.
The Franklin Theatre closed July 1, 1960 after a screening of Lana Turner in “Imitation of Life”.

It actually opened on August 22, 1936 with “Three Kids And A Queen” supported by a newsreel and two shorts “Going Places” and “A Great Idea”.
