Boxoffice, Aug. 18, 1951: “Patrons of the Do Drive-In near Mobile, Ala., were treated to ice cream, cake and chewing gum on the first anniversary of the theatre’s opening. A birthday cake was provided by Manager E. I. Fessler which was intricately decorated and topped with a miniature reproduction of the drive-in, complete with cars, screen, etc.”

Actually opened in June 1950. Also it provided access for people with small planes, if you look at the oldest aerial photos there was a long access road on the southern part of the property. This lead to a small airstrip.

For short names, there was “The Drive-In”. I’ve seen references to one in Prichard and other cities in Alabama.

Odd name!! Shortest name for a drive-in or any cinema?

The address is 3456 Saint Stephens Road, Mobile, AL, which points directly at the current entrance. You can make out the remnants of the drive-in on the south side of the property as lonespaceranger has pointed out. http://tinyurl.com/ya9dekk9

I believe this is confused with another theater. The Do Drive-In was on Highway 43 about .20 miles “west” (away from town) of Wolf Ridge Road. There is a shopping center on the site now, but on Google Earth you can see what may be the remains of the ramps on southern side of the property.
