Built by Town Councilman J.T. Havens at a cost of $75000, the 800 seats Neo-Classical style Garden Theater opened in 1922 with Cecil B. De Mille silent era classic film “The Affairs of Anatol” starring Gloria Swanson. By 1950, Trasby Auction Galleries conducted estate sales at the onetime movie palace where today the Palm Beach Bookstore is located.
