Montgomery Hall(part of the Old Swanbourne Hospital site) opened in 1904 for Insane replacing the Fremantle Insane Asylum. Montgomery Hall installed a projector room at the northern end of the hall in the 1920’s for use by the staff and patients, and a screen placed behind the proscenium so pictures could be screened. Unknown how long the pictures were screened there for? Remained Claremont Mental Hospital in 1933, and closed in 1972. The original parts of Swanbourne Hospital closed in 1985. The old Swanbourne Hospital site was demolished in 1985 or 1986 except for Montgomery Hall, the Administration Block, Male Attendants Block, Female Attenants Block, the kitchen, and store. The site is going to be a retirement home, with Montgomery Hall going to be used for community use! The proscenium and stage is still there! Unknown about the screen and projector room? The site has been Heritage listed(date unknown?)
