The Melville Military Camp Hall showed movies starting soon after World War II to the people who stayed in State Government Housing while new houses were built in the area. People from outside the military camp were allowed in too! The film screenings ceased in 1955 when the operator moved the film screenings to the new Hilton Picture Gardens. The military camp was demolished(1970’s or 1980’s?) and became the new suburb of Samson and a plaque placed on a rock at the northern end of Sir Frederick Samson Park beside Sellenger Avenue about the military camp!
