Another Oakland neighborhood theater from days gone by.

Opened in 1916 as the Elmhurst Theater, it became the Royal Theater in 1933 and was closed in 1940.

The Royal Theatre seated 300 people.

The Royal’s address was 9411 East 14th Street (now International Boulevard).

I was in the area recently and noted that the building housing the Royal has been torn down; I’ve no idea when that happened.
